Use this documentation to make routine website changes safely through WordPress. The guides are written for website administrators and explain where to go, what to change, how to preview the result, and when to publish.

Current documentation phase

We are documenting the website one area at a time. The current phase covers the global header that appears across the Smith & Sons website.

• Change the header logo

Homepage, internal-page, footer, and media documentation will be added in later phases.

• Staging: https://www.staging3.smithminerals.com/
• Production: https://www.smithminerals.com/

Use staging for review whenever a change can be tested there first. Apply the same change to production only after it has been checked and approved.

Safe editing workflow

1. Open the guide for the website element you need to change.
2. Follow the WordPress navigation shown in the guide.
3. Preview the result at desktop, tablet, and mobile sizes.
4. Publish only after the preview is correct.
5. Open the public website in a separate tab and confirm the saved change.
